It locks the tyre in place to ensure it doesn't slip on the wheel rim which can run the tyre off the rim and snap valve stems of your inner tube.
ARIETE rim lock/ tyre clamps are moulded with new technology in three different materials: Reinforced technopolymer, rubber, & steel.
This size suits 1.40 to 1.60 inch wide rims.
